tea_and_ink: (our last day as children)
My friend, who does not like that "that sifi-fantasy CGI mental handjob business" has just uttered this one:

R: in the immortal words of one Jimmy T. Kirk: bullshit.
Me: *_* heeeeeeee!!! I've totally roped you in. I've totally roped you in. I've totally roped you in.
R: Crap. So this is what being corrupted feels like. Well, at least Mr Kirk is a hotass.

Also, this post is for my girl [livejournal.com profile] maboheme  whom I promised some reccing of the type I've been neglecting. Hence:

Were you looking for a magical kingdom inside that wardrobe by Netgirl_y2k over at AOOO  Merlin/Morgana, Arthur/Gwen. In which there is absolutely no ravishing. Of anybody, at all. No matter what Arthur says. Kind of relentlessly hilarious with a touch of awesome and some seriously fantastic dynamics.

Through the dark by [livejournal.com profile] kepp0xy  . Wherein Morgana hones her magic and Merlin lends a helping hand (I may have a thing for this particular idea, I think you'll notice). Incidentally, this author has a wonderful array of fics I think should be checked out since they span all tastes and possibilities.

Drastically Redefining Protocol
by [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock . I think the chances you haven't read this one are slim, however in case you haven't here, have some. Arthur is Crown Prince of England, Merlin works at a hospital and Uther passes out in ottomans. Also Gwen and Morgana are kind of stellar. Satisfying long fic, this one. Arthur/Merlin of the boy-on-boy variety.

Peppermint Wind by [livejournal.com profile] miakun . Another Merlin/Morgana one, this one being several times more awesome on account of it taking place in the present and over exotic fruit. Not an AU, btw.

Behind Closed Doors by [livejournal.com profile] miakun . Insanely hot A/G/Mer piece where they're private investigators and also a totally hot threesome as often as possible. Like, really. So very NC-17.

What Happened When The World Fell Apart
by iambic. This one is a really good read, takes place in a steampunkish universe and it's structured in such a way that the story is told both as if read from the official history book and the POV of the characters involved. It doesn't seem to make much sense at first, but then you get into it (if you do get into it) and it pays off beautifully. One of the first fics I read in this fandom.

Ever Mine
by [livejournal.com profile] blackmamba . She has a number of beautiful fics, I think I could simply rec you everything she's written in this fandom, actually. This particular one  has an ethereal quality to it you can almost touch (figure that one out! hehe), from all the characters' POV as they experience a series of supernatural moments that closely relate, one way or another, to Morgana and her ability. Lovely way to look at relationships dynamics.

An Ever-fixed Mark by [livejournal.com profile] imperfectcircle . I think this is my most favoritest one so far. They're a seduretu and if you don't know what that is, there's a brief explanation in the fic, if you do know what that is, then what the hell are you doing still here? you should be over there getting drunk on plot and love and pitch perfect voices. If there is one fic on this list you want to read and ditch the others, this is the one. Trust me.

in omne tempus by [livejournal.com profile] giddygeek . Of power and what it means to be a woman in this male dominated world of Morgana. Tremendously sensual Morgana/Gwen.

A Cautionary Tale About Tomatoes (and zombies) by Netgirl_y2k. Wildly hilarious, I mean there are zombies in it, but that's not even the part where it gets ridiculously funny.

A Little Knowledge by [livejournal.com profile] bluflamingo . Morgana and her sheer fierceness save the day.

Don't Be Sorry by [livejournal.com profile] sparky77 . Another one where everybody loves everybody and Arthur used to climb into Morgana's bed at the age of five because some things are always right in the world.

Aaaaaand Five Lessons by Selena. Because I couldn't NOT include this one. Five lessons Arthur's learned that shape the sort of man he is. It's a beautiful character study piece.

Um, yeah, since you don't know the sacrifices I've had to make, I'll just point you to my delicious tag on these four so that you can go there, if you're still interested.
tea_and_ink: (fortune teller)
I have a conundrum.

I wrote the fic I owe Zo first because DARK ANGEL!!!11! ::ahem:: and then stored it to come back to it because I wasn't quite pleased with the result. We'll come back to this as it is the root of all evil the very reason I'm so behind on posting these fics.

Then I wrote Anna-Mousey's prompt and I was quite pleased with it (ask Zo) and then I stored it away until I'd fixed my relationship with other one, so that I could post them both simultaneously, or at the very least as close to each other as possible as I am all about equality.

A few weeks ago my computer acted out and erased several files it had no business erasing, since many, many of them were school related I tended to those first, it wasn't until about a week and a half later that my conscience kicked in and I decided enough was enough, I would patch things up with the first fic and we'd come out of it stronger for it, our love would be reignited and this would become a source of strength in future difficult experiences. The fic was erased with the other files and my heart was broken in millions of tiny itty bitty little pieces never to be fully gathered again.

So, CONUNDRUM, should I appease my guilt and post Anna-Mousey's fic regardless of the readiness, or lack thereof, of Zo's? Or, should I soldier on (I'm still soldiering on) and fully re-write Zo's fic first before posting either?

Both of this solutions carry the same pros and the same cons, they would both make my soul a better place, and they would both weight further down my conscience as they are not the absolute best possible solution. I'm torn. Suggestions?
tea_and_ink: (bound to catch the heavens if they fall)
I may or may not have spent the entire afternoon neglecting my duties procrastinating not writing stuff reading ST fic. And, um, most of it may or may not have been Sulu centric. It's not confirmed yet, the jury's still out (or refusing to come back in because they, as I, may be kind of embarrassed by the undeniably unanimously reached verdict), but I may or hey, may not, have a thing for Sulu's unrelenting awesomeness.

Yeah.

::patiently waits until her ST fever dies down a bit:: ::she means it, dammit::

tea_and_ink: (bound to catch the heavens if they fall)
Ok, you crazy bunch. We've been doing some practice in my writing shop, and one of the prompts was to write a little piece to a provided photograph. I, being me, feel like taking this to the next level since I feel that doing this just once was not enough for me to fully enjoy it, you know, sample the textures and play around with it for a little while. I felt vaguely cheated out of it.

Now, the deal a present to you is as follows: you prompt me with two words, the first one I will use as a reference theme for a photograph, and the second will be the actual prompt for the written part of the composition. You can provide fandom, character or whatever else you feel would bracket the field.

Fandomwise, the usual suspects apply; original work is always a pleasure and the length would be kind of ficlet-ish (believe me, I could be more vague here).

Another option (because I really like you) would be for you to provide the photograph and the second word of the prompt. I want to work on my picture-taking skills a bit, yes, but I also want to expand my creative horizons, you see.

How 'bout it? Would you help a lost little soul out?

tea_and_ink: (down the barrel of a winchester)
No, really. Take a guess.

Well, ST of course.

RECS! Because I'm generous and stuff. Also, I feel my life is more complete after having read this stuff, which means I'm likely to smile more often simply by remembering bits and ends. Now, assume one of this memories jumps on the passenger seat while I'm walking down the street, assume now that the inevitable smile that takes over my face, somehow, gets passed on to somebody else and, for a little while at least, their day is that tad bit brighter.  Isn't that a nice assumption?

MY OBSESSIVE ST FIC READING COMES FROM ENTIRELY ALTRUISTIC PURPOSES. I'M MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE READING ABOUT JIM KIRK'S CREW HIJINKING IT IN SPACE.

Y'all bow to me, now.

The following are PG, so, safe for everyone and their dogs.

Only the Good Die Young by [livejournal.com profile] _seven_crows  Chekov being adorable. Also, Kirk makes sound effects, there are discussions about naked singularities, Spock takes on responsibilities that may not be quite as suited to him as originally thought. Much fun is had by all. Unless you're Chekov.

Four Consequences of the Unexpected and Unlikely Friendship Between James T. Kirk and Nyota Uhura
by[livejournal.com profile] trisfic  Laugh. Out. Loud. And then some. It is slightly terrifying because, zomg should this two ever become this awesomely BFFs the galaxy should tremble. There's some poetry involved, as well.

The Enterprise: of Warp Barriers, Captains, and Other Scary Things by [livejournal.com profile] karanguni  some more Chekov being generally awesome, and Kirk being all-around trouble. Also featuring Spock figuring stuff out in a heart beat and being appropriately stoic about it.

A Fucking Space Opera (or Six Characters Who Didn't Board The USS Enterprise)
by [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis  Fandoms crossover ahoy! Sam and Dean are in it too.

Captain Awesome and His Amazing Enterprise by [livejournal.com profile] vaingirlfic  they are in a rock band. High School AU but that's not the point, the point is: THEY ARE IN A BAND. Surprisingly? not as cracky as the premise suggests. Still, tremendously hilarious because, get this, they are in a band.

People Who Repair Quantums, or Five Planets the Enterprise Never Visited by [livejournal.com profile] ignipes  This one is possibly my favorite so far. Every single piece is perfect and also? it features fandoms that I've been known to fangirl pretty hardcore. Kind of taylor-made, if you will.

Um. This is it. For now. I have to go categorize and track down put in one single place all the others I want the world to see (again, most likely). If you've already read these ones, well then go read again because they are just. That. Good.

tea_and_ink: (one does not love breathing)
So. I was, um, bullied into joining this sort of contest where there'll be no winners (or something) and I have to submit three pieces of fiction. One has to be old, another new and a third one something written the day of the submission itself, as in there'll be someone watching you write it. Oh pressure, how overrated you are.

Anyway, I'm working on the new piece, and am already deciding what the third is not gonna be about. It's the old one that has me a ragged mess of doubt. I have these few pieces that I love with all of my heart but some of them are too personal for me to share, others have already been shared and I believe it is against the non-contest rules to submit something you've already sent out to another contest (where there were actual prices. And less ridiculous rules), clearly this leaves me with very few options, of which the really attractive one is this RPF thingy I wrote a while back, and it is truly and sincerely loved. There's something about that story.

Which is where you guys come in (PLEASE, DO COME IN), because I'm asking your help with it. What do you think about it? Should I make arrangements? Is it contest material?

It's mustang horses, champagne glasses and this is the last thing I've written that got posted, so it's been opinioned on by other people already, but I'm still sort of on the fence about it, mostly because it never got beta-ed and so, (further) third party view may be required before it's set free onto the world.

::is insecure:: Will you help a poor little soul out?

tea_and_ink: (one does not love breathing)
Been feeling odd, lately. As if I had this well inside my head, this pit of ideas waving and revolting around, making themselves known, making me stop and stare. And then I grab my legal pad and... they're gone. I wanna write and, apparently I can, the ideas are there which is sort of fundamental for the craft, I think, but I don't seem to have the drive. Or something.

I'm intimidated by a legal pad.

Don't even wanna bother with the laptop.

But, this is a happy day because I am convinced that leaves are falling! Finally!

So, back to the original reason for this post (when in doubt, always ask your flist), does this lack of drive, as I have christened it, happen to you? If so, how do you handle it? Advices?

tea_and_ink: (peeks)
::is back from the dead:: Man, this is what zombies must feel like, except I'm not particularly hungry for brains, or anything.

  • Point is. I'm home, it was nice to be with the family and have cake and stuff, but I missed being held responsible for my own choices, I missed knowing the routes of public transportation and, oh God, I missed my bed.

  • Wanna know what else I missed? Moussey's deadline. ::cough:: See? I do have the fic written and all; I do not, however, have it in the computer, which, as you can see, would be the obstacle in my way. Ugh, I'm totally one of those folks who have no respect for deadlines and the like, shame on me, dude. But I am also one of those folks who insist on finding the damn bright side on every stupid thing possible, and so, I did find a title (fancy and all) for the fic in the meantime. So, Mousse, focus on that, m'kay?

  • Um, I may have gotten myself into a really tight spot with the Mother's Husband. He insists that I take the commercial road and work my own office, I insist that humanitarian work is my thing and will not be sidetracked, because I'm digging my heels in. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter what I end up doing, since it's really not an area of my life he's ever shown much interest in, until now when I told my mom she was not gonna get much chance to live off of me due to my potential future lack of resources, she's already assumed this fact and has found her peace with it, he has not. Clearly we both have very, very different worldviews and this isn't the first time we butt heads, unfortunately it is the worst fight I've ever gotten into in my life. So. I'm having trouble finding the bright side here. We'll see how it works out in the end.

How're y'all doing?
tea_and_ink: (fandom)
Hey y'all! How's it going?.

Well, I'm home (though it's not really home, it's just a house where they make me sleep in an inflatable matress ::pouts::) and, um, heating actually works here and I never thought I'd miss my shitty heater back in my place (where I get a bed) but Jesus, it's smoldering in here! Sorta.

Also, I have recs. I'm awesome, I know.

Apples and Expectations
by [personal profile] pr_scatterbrain. Is an RPF that pairs Jensen with Eva Green. I made noises even though it is thoroughly PG-13. Great voice, lovely style and well, it gives the visual of EG standing next to the Ackles, and um, exactly how do you turn that down?

Cover by [profile] alethialia. It's a M/A with a very snarky Alec (is there any other kind?) and a Max that goes along because really, it's Alec. Anywya, A wrote it so you should, like, go read. Now.
tea_and_ink: (writing)
'sup kiddies. Among other things, I've been thinking about how much I love writing, and how much writing is not happening on my end these days. So, here's the deal, I will write you a ficlet/vignette for the fandom of your choice, in exchange for you one-word prompt.

Simple, right? Um, I've written for Supernatural, Dark Angel and Dune in the past, can do so again if you so desire. Am also willing to write in the RPF realm, provided I have some slight grip on the people you want me to tell you about (although I am willing to broaden my horizons, so you can just ask whether I'm not too squeaked/annoyed/in the dark about so and so and I'll tell you if you can expect me to put some effort into it, 'k?)

Um. Since I know y'all're just dying to know what's been going on in my super exciting life: there were some protesters the other day who completely trashed the front window of the coffee shop I work for, resulting in one injured costumer, three damaged chairs, one scratch on my forehead and one very freaked out T. It was not pretty. But at least I get to go home for my b-day since we're closed until T gets his act together (and the city pays for the damages, but that's not as important as the guy who handles the cash).

Since I'm in an impromptu hiatus, I'm offering up my free time for a greater cause. Hello, flist! how's it going?
tea_and_ink: (coffee)
I got a job! Yay

I'll be working behind the counter in the morning shift at a coffeeshop. I'm deliriously happy. Finally I'll get a paycheck and all that!

Sadly this will reduce my writing hours a little, but I enjoy a good challenge, so Mousey, before you start hyperventilating, I want you to know that I will not abandon ship!
It's only a half time job so that'll leave me the whole afternoon and most of the night to have a life. Which is where the writing comes in.

OMG I got a job!
tea_and_ink: (huh?)
So, I'm in the middle of some quality time over the phone with my dad when the bro picks up the other end of the line, bribes (or guilt-trips) dad into hanging up and let Jared have a talk with me, and then goes on and asks me if I, being the girl I am, find Jesse Spencer doable....

I really, really worry about my brother's thinking process, and the subjects he chooses to delve on. Bright reminder of that time when he wanted to know which word did I find more appropriate: dick, or cock. Needless to say, much headdeskery ensued.

Also, fics... a list

I predict a lot bonding between me and this laptop.

Go me!

I landed in Second Place! I can't believe it! Oh sweet baby Jesus, I'm second!

I mean that Arts Contest my university was hosting. I won the Second Place with "The Fingerprints of Rain"

::feels like He-Man::

Remember this fic? The one that was that was shamefully title-less?...

Well it no longer is. And I am so ridiculously proud its not even funny!, Specially if we take in consideration the fact that is not such a brain-breaking title to come up with.

But still, I rule.
tea_and_ink: (why me?)
So, I'm posting because I feel obligated to... something. Whatever.

Just got off the buss (not entirely true, I mean I got off at noon, but my butt's still sore, so in my mind? I just got off the buss) and my mom wants me to help her with some statistics she has to deal with. Like, she wants me to think... at 11:22 p.m. local time... I think cold is getting to her brain. I'm worried about her now.

The 16 hours buss trip was met with an unshakable weather of insomnia. The whole sixteen hours I was completely and utterly awake. Even the baby two sits down slept more that I did. That seems wrong to me.
Good thing though, I got home and there was an ample selection of meals for me. They were yet to be cooked and stuff, but dude, my mom actually went out of her way to ensemble a menu of sorts for me. That rocks.

Told you my butt hurts? Well it does. Its ten kinds of annoying and now my sister wants me to teach her how to be sarcastic... this ought to be interesting.  What makes it all worth it? Jared is jealousy-insane ::insert evil laughter here:: because I get to spend mom's b-day with her, while he has to call her all the way from Dallas! Yeah, that's right folks, I am this mature.

Also? the guy went to Richardson, as in Richardson, TX? Home of Jensen fucking Ackles? and didn't get me pictures of... everything. C'mon Jared! Try harder, dude.

Oh and in the ways of the by (Sophie's got that one stuck on me, damn her!) I am so posting that M/A thing, because well, its annoying the living breath out of me, to see it sitting there on my hard drive doing nothing productive what so ever. So, be waiting for it. I'm giving you head's start here peeps, if you're interested in reading it (which you should be, because well, I wrote it and I want the world to read it... there, another shiny example of my levels of maturity) its... not the love of my life, but its coming out dammit!

This all.

Weee!!

So, my students heard that I might have to be leaving school earlier than anticipated and thought that getting me something pretty would convince me to stay (if only it were my decision) a bit longer. They got me this book titled "A Biography of Rain" by some local writer who's name I haven't learned yet. Seems promising. But I really wanna know who came up with the idea and who actually bought the book...

Its now sitting on my nightstand, all pretty with and umbrella on the cover. It will have to wait though, I have midterms to worry about, and dude, didn't we just start the semester? ::scratches head::

The roommate is out of her mind. I mean, she did decide to come live with me, so its really not that shocking. What caught me unawares was my readiness to admit her altered mental condition. That would be like admitting my own insanity, but no, focus. She has lost whatever sanity I allowed her to have when she came up with the brilliant idea of getting The Cat Alec (yeah, that's his full name) a buddy... we live in an apartment, a one bedroom apartment, so another animal in... is a big no-no. She's lost it I tell ya.

::le sigh::

I may or may not be posting some new Transgenic Love fic, haven't decided yet. Encourage me.

Well, I'm still breathing. This week's been HELL, but its over, thanks the gods.

Got some thinky thoughts on "Heart" I'm still articulating them though, and you know, with all the meta going on out there, is quite possible that I bring nothing new to it, but still, the ep got me thinking and well, I loved it for that!

There's this Max/Alec porn fic I wanna post, but need a beta... I'm insecure about it. Alec's oddly quiet and that freaks me out a little... anybody?

Finished the second report on the Project of Doom, so I'm done with that. Meaning that I'll be able to focus on the project itself and that makes me all kinds of happy!

I so wanna hug Dean... I know the episode was supposed to be mostly about Sam but that's why I'm Sera Gamble's bitch. Because she can write like nobody's business.

Who am I kidding! I wanna hug 'em both! Poor babies...
tea_and_ink: (bookish)

I have this weird peaceful feeling today. Like everything goes in slow motion. Its odd, but nice, kind of warm and laid back. I like it.

Finally got around to continue with this trilogy that I'm calling "Tempus Fugit" because it all started there you know? I'll be posting the next installment soon, my beta's still working on it.

I thought I'd go out tonight, have some fun. Some school buddies want to go check out this new pool bar a few blocks from here, its supposed to be fancy and young. But I'm not sure I'll go with them. I didn't really get my sleep fix last night, so I'm more in the mood for a bath and a book.

Will be around tonight though, if anyone is interested in... well, anything that might involve my participation. I was even thinking about asking for prompts, I've discovered they're quite an exercise for my writing. I'll probably be taking up some prompts from communities too, but just in case you're interested in a custom-made ficlet. There.

I'mma shower now, but I'll be coming back afterward.

tea_and_ink: (heart Dazedizzy)
Does anybody know about a good McManus/Winchester fic? I'll read anything that does not include incest, because srsly, I am so done with Wincest or any other version of incest. Dudes there are other people in the world, and they are all willing and able, ya know?.

So, question is, can anybody point me in the direction of some Boondock Saints/Supernatural crossover? Because that AU would be awesome! As in a AU-that-I-am-not-writing awesome.

Also, I read this fic a while ago. Yeah, I know, shocking revelation that one. Anyway, this particular fic was a Firefly/Supernatural crossover, wherein Sam and River were kindasortof in love, or something like that and Sam was feeling guilty as all hell, because well, River's weird and all that. It featured Dean in the role of The General Leading the Defending Troops in the battle for survival during the Apocalypse (that River brought on, just to get Dean to get his ass in gear and start doing what he was supposed to be doing) represented by zombies/reavers that didn't lay down, because they never lay down. There was also some Gunn (Oh Gunn, I love you so much) and that's about all I got to read before my internet connection crashed down and I lost the LJ's account name....
Ring any bell? Because it was fantastic, marvelous, wondrous and dark, so freaking dark folks. Great narrative style and awesome original idea, I mean when I left, it was Firefly/Supernatural/AtS... so far. And it fit. Every piece, every character made so much sense! I wanna find it again.

So, McMannus/Winchester? Firefly/Supernatural/AtS? Anybody?

Speedy post

Hi there... just checking in real quick to let y'all know that I'm still breathing and that hopefully will continue to do so for the rest of the week... in case you don't read anything that proves that.

I finished my latin titled fic... and at some point it hit me that I can't leave things like that, I mean, I could, but I won't 'cuz I like to annoy myself that much. It's a TRILOGY peeps... and I'm feeling all Tolkien-like. O.o

Izzy asked me to write her something wherein Dean angsted (yeah, I'm using angst as a verb. Oh if my mother could see me)... and I did it. Not as spectacularly as my aspirations for greatness would have wanted it, but it does the trick (or, y'know, I srsly hope it does the trick), and is important to remind you all that Dean tends to give fits and bitch at me instead of just letting me write him, so I'm fairly proud of my achievement  ::goofy grin::

The best friend's gf has some seriously good ideas when it comes to The Fight Club. I will get to that when time is batting for the home team. Possibly.

Well, this is all.

::Waves buh bye::
