It saddens me to think that there are only two more eps to go, and then hiatus until 2010 (?). So, in light of this RTD better get his act together and deliver. He is not Kripke, so, naturally, I worry.

[personal profile] silver_spotted what did you think of this one?

Shhh!

I know not a whole lot of you watch this one, but the few that do I have a great deal of love for, not that I don't love all of you, it's just, they watch Doctor Who, so. Yeah.

In deference to them :

Spoilers! )

Completely unrelated: I've been mainlining Dark Angel this weekend, and man, that show had so much potential, but then it became all about the woes of Doomed Lovers. Honestly thank god for Alec and Joshua. And to think James Cameron wasn't too fond of Alec, clearly he's an idiot.

To close this on a happy note: Ackles, Jensen Ross. Just think about that.

As time ticks away, I'll probably continue to expand this post. Possibly.

I'm back, hopefully. Man, been having crazy times lately, and except for the occasional comment in some of y'all's entries, I've been away from the internets and boy does that hurt!.

But mid-terms were survived (woop!) and the boy's back with his parents, were he rightfully belongs. I have my life back, so of course the first thing to do is to report back with you. Lovely.

And because I need the distraction, here, have some meme I snagged from [personal profile] silver_spotted

2. When did you last ____________?

3. __________ or ___________ and why?

In this post[profile] dodger_winslow goes on about how SPN fans in current state of freak out over the Reaper situation, are freaking out for the sakes of it (which, as it's also mentioned in that post, is not wrong at all if you really want to do it for the damn sakes of it).

All of which has inspired me to ask y'all: why do you want our show back? In full force, I mean, with a fairly decent season 3 and the fully developed myth arc and all the inherent fireworks.

I want it back because, mostly, it's everything a TV show has to be to keep me hooked for the long run. I am not embarrassed to admit that I am a quitter when it comes to TV, I didn't bother finishing up Buffy and left things around the time Spuffy came to an end (because I figured they couldn't top that, it's just impossible to get better than that), Angel lost me way before that, around the time Angel's kid got Cordelia pregnant, so I have NO IDEA what happened with those characters and really, when you don't care anymore? you know something's wrong.

Supernatural, otoh, is snarky (yes, snark ALWAYS comes first, which is not to say snark wasn't abundant in other shows, it's just a must have for me), tells compelling stories and has believable, emotionally realistic characters, it has a defined personality even if it is still working on it's own mythology (or to me it feels like it sometimes). This show has have some seriously stellar moments, moments that have stayed with me and have become iconic, even the weakest episodes were thoroughly enjoyable and thus I enjoyed. SPN emits this "we really care about and love what we do" vibe that just spills from every pore, and as a viewer I feel respected (even despite those, admittedly few and far between, moments my intelligence has been somewhat insulted. But even then, the awesomeness surpasses the possibly-not-there insult). It doesn't have completely far-fetched story lines, it´s all based on stuff we've been hearing/reading/knowing about since our most tender childhood, which adds that dash of veracity that is highly appreciated by a drop-out like me.

All this without including those little details that make us feel smart for liking this so much (for the reasons that we do, of course), like cinematography, sets, props, actors, scripts, themes. I mean, this show has episodes versing on CHOICE AND SACRIFICE, on the true meaning of faith, on the relativity of right and wrong, that's heavy stuff (I'm not saying other similar shows don't go there, they're just not as masterful as SPN is). They tell stories about brothers being brothers, and how you can be your own worst enemy, how the weak is often the strongest and how actions speak, but intentions behind actions matter.  They drive a classic, muscle car to the beat of the very best mullet rock to be found, they butt heads and make fun of each other in the same breath, they fight and they make up within three minutes (they're brothers, do not forget, this is what siblings do); we've seen JP grow as an actor in front of our very eyes, JA has proved over and over again that there is always room for improvement and for repeatedly mind-blowing  performances.

SPN has given us Dean and Sam, two characters so complex and yet so easily understood it's not possible to develop any kind of relationship with them that does not include both love and hate, sometimes in equivalent amounts. Tell you've never found yourselves wanting to hug them real tight and smack their heads together simultaneously, in the same motion if possible too; Dean girls out there, tell me you haven't agreed with Sam over Dean in more than one occasion; that you haven't wished Sam could have had a better life; Sam girls, tell me you haven't felt your hearts ache because of Dean, even when Sammy was hurt as well; that you weren't proud when Dean finished off the YED while Sam was pinned to the bark of a tree; tell me all these things and I shall not believe you for you be lying liars who lie. Even John is a fantastic example of what this show can do to get to the viewer's heart, loved and hated in equal proportions, he has stirred emotions so deep we're still feeling them even after all this time without him.

And that is why I want my show back. What are your reasons?

So, my entire class in on time out until next Wednesday. The details of what we did to earn such a sanction remain kinda fuzzy, seeing as how nobody will clarify them for me. Which is a very bad thing, since half the curse (including me) were absent when the transgression was committed. We're all sinners and thus we shall pay.

I have a big brother... who's not Jared. His name is Johnathan and Jared is calling me every two hours to keep me posted on every happening of this new development. As of now, Dad won't spill his version of the story. Apparently brother Johnny is around 28 yrs old, and showed up last night at their doorstep. My family is weird folks, very weird.

Jensen on Jimmy Kimmel? Awesome. Poor thing looked like he'd rather be giving birth instead of sitting there. Does he curl his eyelashes? WTH? But you know, he took it like a champ and managed to crack some jokes despite his discomfort. Go Jen! That's why I like you so.

Other than that, tv and I aren't really in the best of terms lately, I really have no interest on the current programming. Other than Supernatural and possibly Heroes, which premiered here last Friday... I'm adrift tv-wise. Which leaves me completely and utterly BORED! I do nothing but get myself in troubles when bored to these levels. I need a distraction. Soon

Tis all so far. I'll probably put in another post before the day is over, because I'm bored like that.
tea_and_ink: (bookish)

You've been getting from me, is because we've just been informed that our reports on The Project of Doom, must be turned in by the end of April. We're in March, and we'd planned to have it done by June... the earliest. So we're very, very delayed. Hence my absence.

Hopefully our "Teaser Trailers" will buy us some more time. Highly improbable, but hope dies last...

Also, I've been using my rather scanty spare time to read Dean Koontz.

Which means that Koontz is the new hero in town. I think I'm in love peeps! So far got under my belt "By the Light of the Moon", "Velocity" and I'm on chapter eight of "Dean Koontz's Frankenstein" co-written by Kevin J. Anderson, who also co-wrote Dune's prequel with Brian Herbert. I'm happy about this.  They're all good books, thought provoking and well plotted honest-to-god suspense. Oh yeah, I'm very happy.

On another depressing news, we get Supernatural on Tuesdays here, we also got a massive black out last Tuesday. At 9:54 pm EXACTLY... It was a boring night. And NO SPN. There is no justice in this world!

Well, this all.

So, what does Paola do, when she should be studying for upcoming finals? She's watching "The Godfather". The trilogy. On a row.
Yeah, I'm so gonna nail my exams this turn.
::Shakes head::

But you know what's the best part? I want to read the books. Again. So i'm sitting here, thinking where did I put them last time I read them.
::headdesk:::

I'm hopeless internets. I really am. Otoh though, the grandpa should be tremendously proud of me. In fact I'll call him to tell him what I'm doing. I predict laughter  and some italian phrase that I won't be able to understand until after I've called my mom to ask for translation.  I'm hopeless...

I'm back in Argentine... back to real life wherein I pretend to study and try to work... not that it always works, but y'know, I do my best.

Since I landed I've been having this desire to write something with a latin title... yup I'm weird like that. Been thinking about "Tempus Fugit" and it'd be somewhat angsty or deliriously happy... Time Flies, time flies... what else can you write to that title?
Any other title you'd like to suggest? I'm all ears.

Another temperature change and I'm going nuts, here its the middle of summer and moisture is about 20-30%. I'm dying and my skin is falling off. I'm shedding my skin people, and I've been here for like, 27 hours and 43 minutes (not that I've been counting) and already I'm watching my skin fall off in layers. Its so nice to be back.  ::snorts::

Left the bro back in Dallas, and got here to watch "Tall Tales", and yeah, Jared (my Jared, the one that looks vaguely like me) started popping in my head so much I had to call him to tell him to download the ep because, Oh God, such a brotherly thing to do, getting in each other's nerves and needling the other... he called me back to tell me how much he loved me, and how convinced he was that I too could "acknowledge" other people's pain. In my defense, I have seen him put SIX GRAPES in his mouth. At the same time.

My brother cracks me out.

Anybody else fell off their chair from laughter during this ep? We should start a support group or something.
I truly missed the lighter episodes, the ones that had nothing to do with the mytharc and thus with the rest of the eps, and that totally rocked your socks off. Oh man, I love spn so much I'd marry it if I could, I wanna have its babies. Dude! that has to be wrong on some level...

its like looking at the sun?... I can only imagine Jensen's reaction to that one!
I gotta go laugh some more now. While moisturizing my nose, for like, the hundredth time today. URG!
tea_and_ink: (huh?)

Okay, its like this, I was watching this leopards show on National Geographic Channel, and over all I was very much enthused with all the info being shed about great cats and the like. That was until they got into the discription of this young male leopard that was, silently but blatantly stalking the female one (the leading lady shall we call her) in order to mate with her (no heat in sight though, just male pride and female gloath), and through the entire description I had an Alec-moment wherein I squee like a good fangirl.

I swear, I started thinking that Max/Alec *is* cannon. I know that according to the books it is, at least on Alec's end, but I mean on the show, as seen on tv, the whole confidence in his abilities to atract the female, and the patience to wait for her to fall, the way the leopard entered her territory, stealth enough for her not to notice, but loud enough to let her know he wasn't an enemy. It screamed Alec.

Thought I'd let ya know that

tea_and_ink: (oh dean)

Supernatural has once again blown my mind. And I am, oh so grateful.

I LOVE OUR SHOW SO DAMN MUCH!

I want more of this, I really do…

tea_and_ink: (huh?)

So according to the grapevine any show that I fall for seems to be doomed from that point on. ARG!

With the few exceptions of the Simpsons and The X-Files, any TV show I become enamored with, suffers a biblical collapse and it either gets cancelled or shuts plot and philosophy straight down to Hell. Very sad indeed.

The shows that caused this post are two very dearly beloved programs (that incidentally have some of the greatest fandoms, mind you) are SPN and Firefly.
