I know not a whole lot of you watch this one, but the few that do I have a great deal of love for, not that I don't love all of you, it's just, they watch Doctor Who, so. Yeah.
In deference to them :
Completely unrelated: I've been mainlining Dark Angel this weekend, and man, that show had so much potential, but then it became all about the woes of Doomed Lovers. Honestly thank god for Alec and Joshua. And to think James Cameron wasn't too fond of Alec, clearly he's an idiot.
To close this on a happy note: Ackles, Jensen Ross. Just think about that.
In deference to them :
OMG! Hi Professor River Tam Song! You are awesomecakes and I loff you like whoa! That said, I'm loving almost all the ladies this Who!Season has brought along, that, my friends, is made of WIN. Absolute and undiluted WIN.
Wasn't particularly scared of the Shadow Thingies, but the suit monster did creep me out, and the ghosting wasn't so scary either, it was mostly sad, really sad, that knowledge that this person is dead and still sentient somehow, not knowing what's happening. It's sad.
DONNA KICKED DOWN A DOOR!!!!!!!! Step aside Dean Winchester, Donna is here! See? where men's gizmos fail, women's abilities kick in. Oh, Donna I love you so much. So Damn much, girl, even though you're apparently Doomed to Something.
Which brings us back to professor River, you know what she strikes me as? Someone who loved and let go. Still, she loves the Doctor simply because he's the Doctor and he probably showed her the universe and life and human nature and her own Well of Awesomeness (although I think she was absolutely fabulous in her own right before she met him at all, and maybe this had the Doctor a bit taken with her. Maybe) and then she moved onto bigger and better, now she's an archaeologist (what's with prejudiced Doctor here?) and she's having all these adventures by herself, and I'm not sure I'm making too much sense (totally typed sensen there, god Ackles!) but what I'm trying to get to is: this is the kind of person I hope Rose has become. We know Martha has moved on, we know she's found her own way to help keep earth save, and I want that kind of life for Rose, she deserves it. I really hope she's looking for the Doctor because she needs his help, not because she's still dreaming of settling down with him and getting a mortgage, I want a grown-up Rose, I want her to have taken everything she learned about herself while prancing around with the Doctor and become something greater than she already was, I will be disappointed if she's still clinging to the hope she'll get the Doctor to marry her, or something (not that she ever used those words, mind you). He's the kind of love you're lucky to experience, but once you've done that, you have to let it go. Almost literally, he's the university professor you get the hots for, solely because of the size of his brain and the blinding charm, but then when the time comes, you have to let it go because he was not yours to have in the first place. Ever.
BUT River, (see how I've moved onto first name basis already?) is awesome and flirty and fancies everyone in her team (except the funds guy, totally understandable), has dated androids and is very much a female Jack, just a little toned down, which is great because, even though she seems to belong in the 51st century, we do not and a woman as forward as Jack (sexually speaking) would have to be handled with a lot of care, else she'd come across as more than a little slutty and hell, Jack came across as more than a little slutty. Point is, I heart her from her curly pony tail down to her white space boots. And she kept a diary, which looks a lot like the TARDIS, which is fitting! And she touched the Doctor's face and was so tender and that scene, people, that scene sort of broke my heart, I'm not even sure why. Maybe it's because of the aforementioned loved-and-let-go vibe, but it seriously made me a little misty.
In conclusion: DONNA KICKED A DOOR DOWN and then made fun of it. ::loves her::
Oh, does anyone else think that the little girl is actually CAL, which would stand for some computer system/platform/whatever? I'm intrigued by this plot. I know you can't tell from the rest of the post, but I'm raking my brains here, trying to understand it.

Date: 2008-06-01 01:55 pm (UTC)Ahahah. Watching Freak Nation now just pisses me the fuck off. Every time I see those damned superpower leg things on Logan, I just have to roll my eyes and say "It's cancelled, it's cancelled."
Alec is just another reason that I'm a Jensen fangirl. I try to be sane about it and mostly I think I maintain my dignity, but JESUSLORDHEISSOGOOD!

Date: 2008-06-02 08:24 pm (UTC)Swear to God, that's exactly what I was thinking the whole time! Big, huge, major facepalming with the "that chick was so kicking you ass" (or something a lot like it, in Logan's voice, of course) commentary, even Alec rolled his eyes there. I mean, God, he was hurt, had lost blood, was probably in pain, had been fighting and under stress and, oh yeah, he was there, he totally knew he was getting his ass handed to him. Poor Alec, man, the things he had to put with sometimes. ::shakes head::
Ahahahah, you're adorable. Thusly, I adore you!
