Since I can't breathe properly without stopping entirely, I've spent the better part of the night reading (when I wasn't toying around with layouts and such), and finished an entire book in less than one night. I'm flabbergasted. Granted it wasn't such a long book, but the feat remains a feat.

Corollary to this, is the absolute erasure of any lingering doubt that García Márquez is the love of my life my most favorite writer, above them all he stands, tall and proud, no number of dystopias, no amount of epic fantasies can compete, that's right, not even the Professor himself stands next to him.

Ironically To Kill a Mockingbird (which, btw [profile] merykey you have to get your hands on this one, you cannot die without having read this book) remains my unquestionably most favorite piece of literature, so far. You know, in a perfect world, Harper Lee would have written more than one book but, alas. Either way, that's neither here, nor there.

Point is, a great step has been taken for me today, I can now honestly say that this is the man whose work I'll take with me to be stranded on a deserted island.

And in case you were wondering, the all-nighter was Chronicle of a Death Foretold, this must have been the third time round, I think. God, I love that man.

OK then, nut case signing off!

Haha, we share this in common, mos definitely. To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book, hands down. But Marquez is my favorite author. I love that man like burning. Seriously the love of my life.

Oh, hi new friend! I'm sorry I didn't comment when friending you, I thought I read you were going on hiatus and well, kinda wanted to find my way back to your fics so... ::blushes:: but Hello There!

A kindred spirit! I can't stop reading To Kill a Mockingbird, sometimes I just pick it up and start anywhere and then leave somewhere else, it doesn't matter, it's just the simple fact of reading it, regardless of chapter, sequence or any other mundane things that do not apply to the world of books. Same with Márquez, I'm always carrying some book of his around. It's some sort of psychological support, I think.

Haha, hi there. I'm "officially" on hiatus, but I snuck in to catch up reading a couple of bigbangs (I couldn't give up that part of fandom up) and I saw your post and I seriously can't help but stop in when someone mentions books, especially Harper Lee or Marquez. Thanks for friending btw, and *blushes* I do hope to get some fic updated later this month.

Crónicas de una muerte anunciada is not one of my favorite García Márquez books. I mean, it's really good because, even though you know from the start the guy is going to die, actually has already died, Gabriel's narrative makes you think that, in the end, the guy is going to survive and it's all going to be a big misunderstanding. But then the book ends, the guy is still dead, and you're like: Damn it! And you can't hate the writer because he told you from the beginning the guy was dead!!!

I think I'm gonna visit the bookstore this week and get To Kill a Mocking Bird, because you're not the first person to tell me I have to read it. LOL!!

Actually, I kinda love how he does that, he gets the reader so into it that the little hope events could un-happen becomes such a reality. I know it sounds masochist, but I do love it when a story gets to me that much. I remember reading parts and going all "stay there, you loser. Don't leave!" or "do something, woman. His guts are spilling out, do something!" Yeah.

DO EET!!!! it's a moral imperative. And if you can get it in English even better, that way you won't miss anything that might get lost in translation ;)
