Just caught wind of this vid again, and I remember seeing it a while ago which probably means you're most likely to have seen it as well. But, man, this is too good not to want a second go!

The ladies of Firefly/Serenity in all their glory. Reminds me how much love I had for that series, and for Joss' female characters in general, if you want to get, you know, general.

It IS quite fantastic. I'm kinda wishing there was one like this for the ladies (as few as they are) of Spn, like, Ellen, Jo, Missouri, agent Linda Blair, the Bender's police officer, Sarah, Jo, Bela, Ruby, maybe even Jess and Mary. And Carmen, she so counts.
That too would be fantastic, me thinks.

seriously, i think it's serious jealousy over the guys - if the fans can't have them, no one can - not even girls on the show... i have no idea?

It's kind of embarrassing if you think about it. I've read posts where people give their reasons, and they're valid insofar as they have been thought through and they are someone's opinion, but precisely to increase the possibilities of that evolution (which they think new female additions will prevent from happening) is why the new characters are introduced in the first place.

Funny thing is, if fandom's cries were heard and instead of women, we got an endless stream of men thrown into the mix to keep things moving, then the complaint would be the obvious misogyny of the show.

Yeah, it boggles the mind. To think that I became active in this fandom because of how mature and intellectual it was/seemed ::le sigh::

i've written OFCs for the guys, and paired Sam with Jo. it is weird....

and i agree about the guys - you notice everyone loves Bobby - cause he doesn't interfere with the brother's dynamic.

Which is where I bang my head against a wall, because the whole point of Bobby is what he means for the boys, what he represents for them and that has an effect on their relationship's dynamics. So yeah, I'm with you there, it's a jealousy thing.

I mean, for the dynamics to remain completely unchanged they would have to be alone in the world, just the two of them so that no "noise" could come into play, but even that would affect things, one way or another. Every person they come into contact with ripples somehow on the boys and their behavior, whether negatively or positively is what makes things interesting. Hell, even a non-effect WOULD be an effect, a lack of reaction would tell us something about them.

And it's possible I'm getting into deep philosophical waters here. But in my defense, sociology is an interesting terrain. XD
