It's untitled because none of the titles I could think of where as profound as the topic deserves. The freakin' fic isn't as profound as the topic deserves. But I tried anyway, and this is what came out. Obviously con crit is most welcome!

She knocks gently on his door and comes in, knowing he is waiting for her. She comes in and suddenly everything changes.
He had seen this moment; he had seen her become this woman in front of him. The waiting for this instant had been long; having foreseen it, Leto knew this morning his sister would be different, he was prepared for it. But still, the way Ghani’s robe catches at her waist and the curve of her hip when the breeze blows in through the open window makes him stare, a new level of understanding dawning on him, finally the visceral response to the intellectual knowledge he’s had since the beginning reaches him, and all he can do is stare.
She notices him watching and smiles, twirls a little, the skirt of her dress in her hand so that the fabric flies with her. She’s smiling and it’s a thing to see.
“Do you like it?” she asks and her joy shines though her words.
“It’s perfect” he really does mean it.
Ghanima twirls for him one more time and then flops down onto a cushion lying on the floor, legs bent to the side, the sun stealing light from her hair. She looks like the child she no longer is; the child she had never been
Leto had seen this day when his Ghani finally became a woman to his eyes, she had been his twin sister, his other half, his best friend, but now she is more than that because that dress can only mean one thing. She will soon become a mother.
She looks so young and alive, and he feels so old and tired, already tired. Leto would get to live for a thousand years, yes, but Ghanima would get to live.
Not for the first time, Leto wishes he could find a way to die.

Date: 2007-07-29 08:03 pm (UTC)This idea hit me as I was reading CoD again the other day, like one can know what's to come, but it isn't until it comes that one can realize what it feels like, right? That's what I wanted to write about; there was some astray thought about Leto's concept of time and how Jessica didn't understand it, but maybe I'll do that later.
Sorry, this got too long! I'm just happy you liked it, it wasn't as hard to write as I thought it would be! There might even be more to come.
Thanks for reading!
