and oh, really, *Uhura* isn't the one in the way of the reboot!Kirk-Spock BBFness, that would be Kirk himself, with his attitude etc (that starts to be remedied by the end of the film of course). But part of being a friend is treating your friends' friend (or GF) nicely - which Kirk doesn't exactly do with Uhura. /ramble
