peer preasure. and headdeskery

I think I just got myself a Facebook account. Why did I do that? Will I actually put it to use?

I'm vaguely annoyed with myself, don't even know why... anyway. Will see if it doesn't get itself deleted before tomorrow, in which case, I'mma go find you!!!

Um, who has a Facebook account around here? (or who doesn't)

Aw, maaaan, you went and joined the-F-word cult! *whines* Am I gonna be the only one without that bloody thing? End of the world, everybody knows but me, 'cause it was announced on Facebook. *facepalm*

No, I remain strong in the face of peer pressure. Let them find me the hard way-- mobile phone or e-mail! ^_~

Oh man! I just realized I (again) misspelled "pressure", I have issues with that word...

You are a strong little flake and I admire you. Clearly your friends respect your decisions (is that spelled correctly?) and let you be. Mine do not.

STAY STRONG, SISTAH (that is the propper spelling, this I know)!!!!!

[identity profile] too-rational.livejournal.com 2009-02-04 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Spelling? What's that? I just correct stuff that has those weird red squiggles under it and it's not fandom-related stuff. See? Fandom has red squiggles. (I wanted to write squigglies and the mean LJ redded that too. Oh, and LJ is red, also. As is redded. Dude, this comment is more red than not! O.o)

My friends and family stopped badgering me because I KNOW WHERE THEY SLEEP. All of them. It terrifies 'em. ^_~ (Actually, they just learned that I'm stubborn as a mule once I make up my mind. ...and I know where they sleep if they annoy me enough. *toothy grin*)

...and I gotta stop annoying you; sorry, I'm in a chatty mood tonight. *sheepish grin*

[identity profile] maboheme.livejournal.com 2009-02-04 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
haha. i joined years ago but i'm never on. and everyone in my life is on that thing and i avoid it like the plague. and they all write me really bitchy emails about how i'm never on facebook.

sigh. i'm too old-school. :P

[personal profile] penandnotebook 2009-02-05 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to be soooo proud I was old-school. And then my brother said I was not old enough to be old-school, he hurt my feelings. Hence the proving that, yes, he is right as I am NOT old-school enough to resist the draw of new technologies. ::le sigh::

Don't think I'll be keeping up with it either. I've already got LJ, man, this excuse has worked awesomely in the past, why should it stop now? Right?

Right?

[identity profile] merykey.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Me me me!!

Ok, I was one of those, too. Those people who go around thinking: "Why do I need a Facebook account for??" And ended up creating one, just as yourself, due to peer pressure. I must admit it's pretty funny... I've befriended a one Jim Beaver, can you believe it?? He's pretty cool...

I must admit I draw the line when it comes to those stupid addictive games, like Pet Something, or those games where you buy your friends, 'cause all of the sudden you get a notification saying: "So and So just bought you for $2"... it doesn't make me feel cheep... at all. *note the sarcasm*.

I'll add you... but I don't know how... I'm listed as Sol Mk Cardin... see if you can find me!

[personal profile] penandnotebook 2009-02-05 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
All right, I'll see if I can find you. Hehe, it does seem to be rather easy to be friended by total strangers, totally unlike LJ you know, I guess it has to do with the privacy and all that jazz. There are some attractions, but the idea of it still makes my skin crawl a little.

::huffs:: Don't even know why this annoys me so. I mean, I am finally gonna be able to send the facebook-themed ecards I always wanted to have a moral foundation to send, yet here I am, complaining...

[identity profile] merykey.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not that different from LJ. I mean, in a way it's better because in LJ if someone befriends you, they can see... well most of you posts, let's say, if you're not completely Friends Only, and you don't really need to friend them at all. Now, on Facebook, if you don't accept their invitation to befriend them, I don't think they can see you... that is, if you set your profile to private, or whatever it is the equivalent of Friends Only on Facebook.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with Facebook, but it's not something I regularly check as I do with LJ... I usually voluntarily check it once a week or so.

PS: I love your icon! He looks very cute! *hugs Obama*

Yeah, Sonam was raving about the privacy bits, which I get and kind of appreciate, but then, if I want to make my post private it's made private, if I don't really care who reads it, well then it's not private so it's not a big deal for me. It's mainly so I can get in touch with people I've lost contact with, thing is, I'm already in touch with a lot of people I care to stay in touch with, so the social networking characteristic of it is already pretty much taken care of, and LJ serves very well the purpose of bringing new faces to my well, seems a bit ludicrous of me, but hey I was bored enough at the moment. We'll see if it stays though.

Here, have some more Obama icon

[identity profile] sonam-bitts.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, the real question is, who doesn't?

Zo, you're just nuts, you can wait it out as long as you want but you're gonna be there.

I was one of those... didn't need another account to handle or for friendships, but I gave in and I do love it, for a couple of things, like the privacy, whoa, the privacy... and for one, people, most of them anyway, don't fake identities, you use your real name there and stuff, you can find people you've lost in touch with (minus point: people who you don't wanna be in touvh with find you too) nobody can see your profile if you don't want them to, etc, etc, etc... so yeah, I like it.

I think I recall friending you there, once, back when I was all "let's see what this is about", you know, round one ::ahem:: so I knew you had one, but since I willingly wandered away from it, well. Clearly it didn't stick.

Go me, I guess.

[identity profile] sonam-bitts.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You friended me there? really? and I friended you back? are you gure? cos I'm pretty sure I dont have you on the list, lol

[identity profile] mijmeraar.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
I have one. I don't see my close friends and family very often, they're either really busy or interstate. They're all on Facebook so I figured I'd do it.

I hate it. Haha. It's too busy. All that application shit, and being notified whenever people comment, whether it's a comment to you or not. It all seems so useless to me.

The only joy I get is the photos of my niece nad nephew as they grow. I'll keep it simply for that.

I have this Hi5 account where all my former school mates are at, so I figured Facebook was completely unnecessary considering I speak on the phone with my family on a regular basis and the other people I want to stay in touch with are already on another network, I'm thinking this is my main beef with it, why get one when I already got another?

And yet. Hahahaha. Yeah I do find it excessively complicated and so I'm not sure it'll be worth my trouble. We'll see, though.

Hey you!

[identity profile] dazedizzy.livejournal.com 2009-02-06 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
i LIVE on facebook.

but i don't blog there or anything. I keep it to stalk people.

JUST KIDDING!

i keep in touch with high school friends, and friends in Asia and all. Pictures are awesome. I sometimes don't get why people are "anonymous" on LJ all the time.

But I guess I would understand if they write Wincest or something, and boss might be about. Hahaha...

But I love fb, and well, durh, you can always NOT add the applications.

Find me. Isabelle Tan
Or, I could find you?
penandnotebook: (peeks)

[personal profile] penandnotebook 2009-03-03 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have any IDEA how many Isabelle Tan's are out there? A LOT.

Found someone make a silly, scrunched up face in a her profile picture, I'm thinking this is you. Will add her and hope for the best!

[identity profile] dazedizzy.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
no, i actually didn't know how many of us there are out there! hahaha

and if it's a scrunchy faced girl with a T-rex claw and a gray sweater...that's me!!!
penandnotebook: (coffee)

[personal profile] penandnotebook 2009-03-03 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
You (she?) have been added. If anything, I've probably made a new friend of some kind.

Girl, I was on page five when I found that picture, and in my defense, she looks a lot like you (and your silly faces) and so.

[identity profile] dazedizzy.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
hmmm...i didn't get a friend request...

maybe it's a different scrunchy-faced girl?
penandnotebook: (road)

[personal profile] penandnotebook 2009-03-03 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
::sighs:: dude, why is technology so annoyingly complicated?

Okay, I'm venturing out again, wish me luck?

[identity profile] dazedizzy.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
i changed my profile pic to a girl on a wall of snow...
penandnotebook: (road)

[personal profile] penandnotebook 2009-03-03 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, I can't find you.

Find me: Evangeline Gamardo, it's an odd combination, maybe it won't be so hard?

::keeps looking::
penandnotebook: (time lord)

[personal profile] penandnotebook 2009-03-03 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
I should feel ashamed, but then, I don't.

Yeah, it did. Maybe it detects newbies and runs them through the coals, you know, just to check what they're made of?
